FreeAgent is an Edinburgh-built cloud accounting platform aimed squarely at UK freelancers, contractors and small businesses. It handles invoicing, expenses, bank feeds, VAT and Self Assessment, and files directly to HMRC.

It is fully recognised by HMRC for Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT and is one of the software packages listed for MTD for Income Tax Self Assessment. NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Mettle customers can often get FreeAgent free with a business current account.
